Yesterday, President of the House Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) managed to negotiate with the opposition to allow the Lower House floor to reopen. He also threatened to impose six-month suspensions on lawmakers who continue to occupy the floor in an attempt to obstruct legislative sessions. Yesterday, Justice Alexandre de Moraes authorized former President Jair Bolsonaro, currently under house arrest, to receive visits from his children, sisters-in-law, granddaughters, and grandsons without prior approval. President Lula stated that he does not intend to call Donald Trump, as the U.S. president “is not interested in dialogue.” Instead, Lula told Reuters that he plans to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other BRICS leaders to coordinate a joint response to the U.S. tariff escalation against products from BRICS countries.
