Non-working week in Russia to slow coronavirus

On October 20 Putin approved October 30 to November 7 as time for non-essential workers to stay at home. People are dying of coronavirus at a rate of over 1,000 a day. The non-working week is up to the regions to implement or ignore. The federal government can alter the functioning of cultural and health institutions.In the non-working week people will be paid. The state will offer loans to SMEs in sectors that have to shutter. The loans will be worth USD 180 per employee - the minimum wage.The president expressed his disappointment that so few people have been vaccinated. He assured people that Sputnik V is safe. 46% of people said they would never take a vaccine. A further 19% are undecided. Only 32% of people are double vaccinated.Russia has the highest number of coronavirus deaths after the USA. The government is asking people not to travel around the country.On October 19 Moscow began a work-from-home rule. In the service sector people must be double vaccinated. People over 65 are getting USD 140 to incentivize them to be vaccinated. Sputnik V has been approved in 70 countries. However, South Africa just withdrew approval saying it increases the chances of contracting HIV.
