On June 30, late in the night president Poroshenko cancelled one-sided ‘truce’ with terrorists. Military actions resumed promptly. It was the only correct decision in the situation Ukraine faces now. Russia used the ‘truce’ only to bring more tanks, artillery and ammunition to separatists’ groups. Further continuation of the ‘truce’ (as Putin requested) created risks of spreading armed conflict to the neighboring to Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Now it is only the question how fast Ukrainian army will be able to close the border with Russia to cut off terrorists from supplies. It is difficult to predict in this situation but as soon as this goal reached (the territory encircled with Ukrainian forces) further operations of Russian terrorists would be hardly possible. Even few dozens of tanks Moscow passed to separatists would not be able to fight long without fuel supplies from Russia. Even field commanders of separatists (before ‘truce’) recognized that without Russia military support they would not survive for more than few weeks (‘truce’ extended this deadline). But for efficient military operation martial law should be enacted. Otherwise only National Guard with limited participation of army could be used for closing the border with Russia which reduces chances for success of this operation. Yesterday Poroshenko did not mention martial law but we anticipate this decision to be approved soon.
