Polish farmers end blockade of Ukrainian produce

On April 29 the protesters removed barriers at the last checkpoint they had blocked. The others were removed in April 2024. Goods are moving freely both to and from Ukraine. Since February 2024 Polish farmers had prevented Ukrainian food from entering the country, saying it undercut them. An agreement was made that Ukrainian grains would not be sold in Poland. Ukrainian grain can only enter Poland if it is being transported on to another country. An e-Queue system is used to make the traffic more efficient.  Poland hosts more Ukrainian refugees than any other except Germany. Poland has been generous in donating arms to Ukraine. However, Polish arms donations have stopped because Poland says it needs to ensure its own armed forces are well-equipped. The Poles are very worried that if Russia succeeds in Ukraine then it will later invade Poland, which used to be part of the Russian Empire.
