Political crisis “goes one step further”

The temperature of the political clash between President Jair Bolsonaro and the governors remains quite high. Although Bolsonaro has stated that he is willing to talk to the governors, and the Provisional Measure (MP) that frees public officials from responsibility for any mistakes or omissions in actions to combat the coronavirus pandemic is also in the interest of the governors, the relationship remains tense. Today, while speaking to journalists at the gates of the Alvorada Palace, Bolsonaro again called for states to review social distancing measures. In addition, during a video conference with businessmen organized by the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), Paulo Skaf, who is an ally of the president, Bolsonaro said that business representatives need to play hardball with the governors.
