The number of positive cases of the novel coronavirus in the country has been increasing exponentially. The authorities reported yesterday, March 18, that it amounts to 34, 13 more cases than two days earlier, and 23 more cases than four days ago. However, the overall incidence remains low and contagion within the country appears to be very low, at least for the time being. Of the 34 positives, all are in isolation, 33 are imported and the last 13 were from a passenger cruise ship that recently docked in a port. He called the country to remain united and strong under these extraordinary circumstances and suggested specific policy interventions to soften the economic impact in particular on workers and businesses. Leonel Fernandez, former president and FP's nominee for president also made suggestions in particular to protected the most vulnerable people.
