Yesterday, President Lula confirmed on his social media profiles that the new Minister of Human Rights will be State Deputy Macaé Evaristo (PT-MG). She will take over for Silvio Almeida, who was removed from the position after facing accusations of sexual harassment. The Lower House approved the urgent status of Senate Bill 1847/24, which proposes a three-year transition period for the end of payroll tax exemptions for 17 sectors of the economy and for the full INSS (social security) rate in municipalities with a population of up to 156,000. Today, the União Brasil party is scheduled to meet to discuss the succession of Arthur Lira as president of the House. Elmar Nascimento was the favorite until Hugo Mota (Republicans-PB) entered the race.
