On Tuesday, September 19, President Lula (PT) will deliver the opening speech of the UN General Assembly, in New York. The next day, he is expected to meet with the President of the United States, Joe Biden. On Wednesday, September 20, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) will resume adjudication of the so-called “time frame” case, which limits the demarcation of indigenous lands to those occupied or claimed on October 5, 1988—the date of promulgation of the Federal Constitution. The Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) meets this Tuesday and Wednesday, September 19 and 20, to decide on the basic interest rate (Selic), currently at 13.25%. The expectation is for a further reduction, to 12.75%.
