Putin declares that four Ukrainian districts are Russian

On September 30 Putin addressed the nation live from the Kremlin. The Russian-appointed heads of the four occupied Russian districts were present. Putin proclaimed the absorption of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk into Russia. He signed a decree to integrate them into the Russian Federation. In an irate speech Putin accused the West of colonialism, satanism and trying to reduce Russians to slaves. He said that east Ukraine is now Russian ''forever'' and demanded that Ukraine lay down its arms. The week beginning October 3 the Russian Parliament shall debate absorbing east Ukraine. It is certain that they shall endorse Putin's decision. President Putin accused the US for unexplained explosions in the Nord Stream Pipeline on September 28. He said that the US illegally occupied Germany, South Korea and Japan to this day. Putin said that the US created a precedent by using nuclear arms in 1945. 180,000 people attended a rally on Red Square addressed by the president. Some state employees were allegedly ordered to attend the rally on September 30. The announcements on September 30 divert attention from ongoing setbacks. Ukraine is moving forward albeit slowly. It looks as though Ukraine will take the city of Lyman within days. The mobilization is not progressing well as men are still emigrating and some of those drafted do not fit the draft criteria. Regional governors want to set up a commission to correct errors in the drafting process and ensure the process runs smoothly. The mobilization has already highlighted deficiencies in drafting data, supplies and logistics. Russia now claims 20% of Ukraine as its own. That includes Crimea. This is a major escalation. ...
