Putin in Iran and meets Turkish President

On July 19 Putin flew to Teheran and met the leaders of Iran and Turkey. Turkey is the NATO country with the best relationship with Russia. This is due to economic ties but also the need to prevent Russia from being too helpful Armenia. Putin discussed allowing Ukrainian grain to be shipped out of Odessa if NATO and the EU loosen sanctions. The president said that progress was being made in the talks. On July 20 Russia and Ukrainian delegates met in Turkey. These were the first talks between the two countries since March 2022. On July 19 a leak from the EU showed it was considering unblocking assets from Russian banks linked to trading in food and fertilizer. Zelensky says that Ukraine can win this war before the onset of winter 2022. Not many pundits believe him.
