President Luis Abinader announced yesterday the results of the renegotiation of the contract with the company AERODOM, which has been operating 6 public airports under concession since 1999. The renegotiation includes an initial payment or concession rights fee of USD 775 million to be paid in the next 6 months, investments amounting to USD 830 million, and estimated variable revenues ranging from USD 300 million to USD 500 million. The total amount of revenues and investments is between USD 1,905 million and USD 2,155 million. The president stated that the concession fee revenues will be used to finance the construction of road and community infrastructure to be carried out in the next 6 months. The investments to be made by AERODOM include the renovation of the 6 airports and the construction of a new terminal at Las Américas International Airport in 2025, expanding its capacity by 4 million passengers annually. The AERODOM contract was originally set to conclude in 2030, but with the renegotiation, the concession agreement is extended. However, the new concession term was not disclosed. Changes in the concession contract must be approved by Congress.
