Revamp for Russia's ruling party

The United Russia Party is going to merge with another pro-Putin party the All Russian People's Front. This was reported in Meduza (a major Russian magazine) on February 26. Dmitry Medvedev, the former Prime Minister, will no longer be leader of United Russia due to his unpopularity. The new party will have three chairpeople: Alexey Gordeyev, Svetlana Chupsheva and an as yet undecided person who will be a youngster. Elections to the Duma (Parliament) are due in 2021. United Russia is polling badly at 32% in the polls.
