Russia blames US for Russian refusal to attend arms talks

On November 29 Russia said that American ill-will was the cause of Russia's refusal to attend scheduled arms talks with the US on December 29 in Egypt. Russia has postponed them sine die. The talks were the New Start START - Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. A Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that the US was launching a hybrid war against Russia. Maria Zakharova blamed the US for assisting nuclear arsenals to 1,550 strategic nuclear warheads.  In August 2022 Russia ended US inspections allowed by START. It said the US had obstructed Russian inspections of the US. Russia has not made nuclear threats for several weeks, and this is not a nuclear threat.
