Russia blocks the entry of leading Japanese business executives

On July 23 13 businessmen were banned from entering the country. Among them were the president of Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Chairman of Rakuten and the head of Toyota. Moscow published a list of the people who are forbidden to enter Russia. The reason stated was because of Japanese sanctions on Russia. Surprisingly, firms such as Sony, Honda and Mitsubishi did not have anyone sanctioned. Japan has given financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine but not arms. Japan is selling Patriot missiles to the United States to allow the US to give other such missiles to Ukraine without depleting its stocks. Relations between Russia and Japan were normal until 2022. They still disagreed on the Kurile Islands, which the USSR took from Japan in 1945. Since Russia has become much more amicable with Japan's deadly foe North Korea this has led to a sharp deterioration in relations between Moscow and Tokyo.
