Russia declares Austrian diplomat persona non grata

On August 24 Russia expelled an Austrian diplomat as a reprisal against Austria's expelling a Russia diplomat. Vienna accused the Russian of industrial espionage. Earlier this year Austria jailed one of its army officers for spying for Russia.Austria is the third European country to expel a Russian diplomat in a month. The others are Norway and Slovakia.Until recently Austria had a better relationship with Russia than most other EU countries. Notably, Austria is not in NATO.
