Russia ends gasflow to Latvia

On July 30 Gazprom took action. Latvia is an EU and NATO country that is a former Soviet state. It has a significant Russian minority. Gazprom said it ended gas supply because Latvia is breaking conditions of purchase. Gazprom has already reduced gas supplies to Germany to 20% of capacity. The EU says that Russia is reducing gas supply to punish the EU for backing Ukraine. Russia says it has been forced to pare gas supply because sanctions make it hard to maintain the pipeline.
