Russia evacuating nuclear power station area in Ukraine

On May 6 authorities in the Russian-occupied district of Ukraine ordered thousands of civilians to evacuate. The Russian-appointed administration announced that over 1,500 have been evacuated already. The region contains the largest nuclear power station in Europe. The International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly warned that the power station could face a meltdown. Russia claims Zaporizhzhia as an integral part of Russia. It was to have normal life functioning there. The evacuation could be because the anticipated Ukrainian counter-offensive is imminent, and it could be in the Zaporizhzhia Region and head towards the Sea of Azov to break the land bridge between Russia and Crimea.
