On March 19 Russia announced its first death from coronavirus. The country now has 199 cases. Worryingly, 35% of these cases were diagnosed on March 19. Is the disease spreading or are the authorities getting more efficient at finding infected people?Russia has one of the highest per capita numbers of doctors in the world. However, outside Moscow hospitals are often lagging behind in equipment. On the other hand Moscow has more than half the COVID-19 cases in the country.Courts are adjourning all but time critical cases. Moscow Shermetyevo has closed two terminals as virtually all international flights have stopped. Medpromresurs is the company is that is administering the coronavirus tests. The Russian Direct Investment Fund is investing in the company.
