Russia invites Iran to use Crimean port facilities

On September 2 Moscow announced that it is inviting Iran to use ports in the disputed Crimean Peninsula. Iran is an OPEC member but this has not helped much in maintaining access to oil markets. Iranian crude oil exports have fallen by 80% due to US sanctions. However, oil product exports have not been badly hit by sanctions. Russia is also offering river and canal routes to transport Iranian exports. Russia and Iran have a very amicable relationship . They are comrades in Syria in their battle against ISIS. Iran needs all the friends it can get. Russia is annoying the US by being so helpful to Iran.
