Russia Nobel Prize winner says Ukraine War cannot end by talks

The laureates said at an awards ceremony in Germany that the war could not end through diplomacy whilst Putin is in office. Irina Scherbakova was the co-founder of the Russian human rights organization Memorial. But after Putin is gone there will be a negotiated peace she said but that requires Ukrainian victory first. She denounced premature calls for peace. Scherbakova lives in Germany. Memorial was banned by the Russian courts in 2021. Memorial is due to get a Nobel Prize on December 10. Ukrainian and Belarusian human rights organizations are sharing the award.  The Chancellor of Germany said the war must not be a victory for Russian expansionism. He emphasized that the West has no wish to deprive Russia of an inch of its land.
