Russia sells warplanes to Vietnam

On January 29 it was announced that Russia has sold training jets worth a total of USD 305 million to Vietnam. Russia is the principal armourer of Vietnam. The planes are Yak 130s. The number of jets has not been disclosed. These planes have been sold to six other nations. These training planes can be armed.Military technology is the one area of Russian manufacturing that is booming. Russian arms tend to be fairly cheap. It is now hoped that Vietnam will purchase more sophisticated jets from Russia. Vietnam is buying this hardware because it is disputing the South China Sea. China will not be happy about these sales.
