Russia suspends its mission to NATO

Earlier in October 2021 NATO expelled 8 Russian diplomats. NATO accused them of being undeclared intelligence officers. On October 18 Moscow's riposte was to withdraw its delegation temporarily. The move will take effect from November 1.Russia temporarily withdrew its ambassador to the USA earlier in 2021 over some contentious remarks by Biden. That issue soon blew over as this one might too.Russia was allowed a mission to NATO 2002 when relations were good and there was ample cooperation because of 9/11. NATO has a mission in Moscow that operates out of the Belgian Embassy. The Russian Foreign Minister said that NATO did not not cooperate with Russia or take part in any useful negotiations.Many Russian diplomats have been declared persona non gratae by Western nations over the past few years. The US Embassy in Moscow is hardly providing consular services because it is not allowed to hire Russian staff.
