Russian anti-corruption organisation shut down

On July 20 the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) dissolved itself. FBK lost a lawsuit against Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prigozhin is a confidante of Putin's and he is said to be behind the Internet Research Agency which is widely suspected of meddling in foreign elections.In 2019 FBK said that Prigozhin's catering company had given food poisoning to many children in Moscow. None of the children died. His company has a contract to provide school lunches. Prigozhin sued for libel and won USD 1.23 million in damages.The FBK does not want to pay compensation to Prigozhin. The only way to avoid doing so is to shut itself down. Its founder Alexey Navalny said he wants to set up a new similar organization. Alexey Navalny has spent several short stints in jail. He has often had his bank accounts frozen and his property sequestered. Prigozhin is also said to be the owner of Wagner which is a mercenary company. He denies any connection to Wagner.
