Russian missiles strike Kyiv

On May 8 and 9 some 25 missiles were fired at Kyiv and other cities in the run-up to Russia's Victory Day Parade. Ukraine said it shot down 23 of the missiles, and only one person was hurt. The President of the European Commission was in Kyiv at the time of the attacks. Russia usually desisted from such attacks while foreign leaders were there. Ukraine now celebrates victory in the Second World War on May 8, which is what Western Europe does. May 9 is now Europe Day in Ukraine. Zelensky said that the Russian government is Nazi. The presidents of 6 former Soviet countries are attending the Victory Day parade in Moscow. In 2022 no foreign leaders attended. Ukraine might be reluctant to attack the parade for fear of accidentally killing the president of a neutral country. Putin said that the Ukrainian government is a Nazi one. He said that Russia is defending itself in this war and that the war had reached a turning point.
