Russian tourism lost USD 7 billion

On October 1 the Russian Tourism Union announced that the industry had suffered a huge loss this year. This might reach USD 9 billion by the end of 2020. The tourism industry has suffered even more though Russian than ever have vacationed inside the country. Foreign tourists spend more per head than Russian tourists.Overall Russia has gained USD 30 billion by people being unable to take vacations outside Russia. That is 2% of GDP. The fall of the RUB increased the tendency to stay at home even though Russians are allowed to go to some countries such as Turkey without quarantine.
