Russians and Belarusians frozen out of some sports

On April 20 Wimbledon announced that Russian and Belarusian players are prohibited from participating in the world's most famous tennis tournament. The Boston Marathon has also forbidden athletes from these two countries from taking part in the race.Athletics are important for Russian national prestige. Sport is the one area in which Russia regularly beats the USA. Moscow decried the sports ban as unfair and illegal. It is likely that more sporting competitions will ban Russian athletes.
