Secretary of Ukrainian Security Council resigns

Oleksandr Danyliuk resigned as Secretary of the National Defence and Security Council on September 30. Danyliuk was a Poroshenko appointee. The reason for his resignation is unclear but he said it was related to the PrivatBank dispute. There had been rumors in late September that Danyliuk was going to resign. There is talk that he might be appointed ambassador to a country such as the United States or the UK. This suggests that he is not in disgrace. The timing is perhaps significant. He stood down from his post just as relations with the Trump White House have become difficult.On October 3 Oleksiy Danilov was appointed Secretary of the National Defense and Security Council. Danilov (57) is from Luhansk - one of the areas taken over by pro-Russian rebels. He used to be in the Rada (parliament) and is not a member of President Zelensky's party.
