Senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES) will chair the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (CPI) set up to investigate organized crime. He was elected by the committee members yesterday, November 4, during its first meeting. Senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE) will serve as rapporteur. Yesterday, Justice Isabel Gallotti of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) voted to apply ineligibility and revoke the mandate of Rio de Janeiro Governor Cláudio Castro. Following her vote, Justice Antonio Carlos Ferreira requested a review of the case. Today, the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) will announce its decision on the benchmark interest rate (Selic), currently at 15% per year. The market expects the rate to remain unchanged.
