The week’s marque politics event was the first gathering of 6 opposition leaders to discuss the future of post-Erdogan Turkey. The summit produced little in the way of concrete plans, but we shall wait until 28 February to pass final judgement, when the ‘Transition to a Strengthened Parliamentary System” proposal will be jointly unveiled.

President Erdogan and first Lady Emine fully recovered from Omicron, but Erdogan’s strange outbursts continued.

Social unrest became endemic, but didn’t turn into a full-on national movement. Kilicdaroglu officially leads the movement with his personal act of defiance: He shall not pay his electricity bills. We explore the question of whether unrest could spill into a second Gezi: fifty-fifty, we say.
