Former President Lula’s advantage in the first round was much lower than the polls suggested – some institutions predicted a double- digit difference between the votes received by the two leading candidates. At the end of Election Day, Lula was in the lead by only 5.23%. Some aspects of the race will become deciding factors in determining the winner of the second round. At this time, the two presidential candidates will prepare themselves to negotiate and adjust their campaigns for the runoff.
