Today, the government will submit the 2025 budget proposal to the National Congress. This week, to balance the accounts, the Ministry of Planning announced a thorough review of social and pension programs, which could result in cuts of R$ 25.9 billion. The Supreme Federal Court (STF) has decided to give the Executive and Legislative branches an additional ten days to present a new proposal to increase transparency in the payment of parliamentary fund transfers to the Budget. Former President Jair Bolsonaro is organizing a demonstration in São Paulo on September 7, Independence Day. The protest is motivated by recordings released by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo of conversations with Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the rapporteur of the fake news inquiry, and his aides.
