Yesterday, the House approved a bill that changes the Bankruptcy and Recoveries Law, speeding up the processes by increasing the power of creditors. The text now goes to the Senate for further analysis. Also yesterday, the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said that the states' federal debt is currently very high and that a change in this number would be inevitable. Pacheco said that 60 days—estimated by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad—is enough time to discuss the issue and that he will ask the government to submit its bill on the topic in 10 days. Today, Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services Geraldo Alckmin, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad and Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira, as well as representatives of the National Confederation of Industry, FIRJAN, and FIESP, will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the Mercosur-European Union Agreement, among other topics.
