The Lower House plenary approved urgent status for the Amnesty Bill for those imprisoned in connection with the January 8 attacks (PL 2162/23). The measure passed with 311 votes in favor and 163 against. Centrist parties only backed urgency for the amnesty after the PL overwhelmingly supported the Privileges Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC 3/25), which the Lower House approved on Tuesday, September 16. Meanwhile, the government managed to push through the provisional measure expanding the Social Electricity Tariff to provide free power bills for approximately 4.5 million low-income families.
