The bill in the House establishes a 17% ceiling for the ICMS tax on energy, telecommunications and transportation. The urgent status of the bill was approved last week. The National Committee of State Secretaries of Finance (Comsefaz) estimates that, if approved, the PLP could generate an impact of R$ 100 billion a year. On Tuesday, a special committee will be installed to begin the analysis of PEC 7/20, which changes the entire Brazilian tax system. The text replaces all current taxes with just three types of taxes: income tax, consumption tax and property tax. Some in the PSDB will try to convince former Governor João Doria (SP) to give up his candidacy for president.
