The Joint Budget Committee will meet on Wednesday (March 19) to vote on Senator Angelo Coronel's (PSD-BA) report on the 2025 Federal Budget. Tomorrow, the government is expected to send Congress a bill exempting individuals earning up to R$ 5,000 from income tax (IR). Currently, only those earning up to R$ 2,259.20 are exempt. The Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday to decide on the benchmark interest rate (Selic), currently at 13.25% per year. Expectations point to an increase to 14.25%.
