The MDB and PSD emerged from the 2024 municipal elections as the parties that elected the most mayors in state capitals, with five each. With the conclusion of the 2024 municipal elections, succession in the National Congress takes center stage on the political agenda. On Tuesday (October 29), the PP, the party of House President Arthur Lira (PP-AL), may formally announce its support for the candidacy of Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB). The schedule approved by the Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) for Complementary Bill No. 68/24, which establishes the Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS) and the Tax on Goods and Services (IBS), includes 11 public hearings. These will take place between October 29 and November 14.
