The minutes of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) meeting included indications of interest rate hikes, causing political repercussions. On social media, the national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, stated that the minutes are "a slap in the face of the country." In an interview, the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), confirmed that the bill on the resumption of the payroll tax (PL 1847/2024) is unlikely to be put to a vote this week, although it remains on the agenda. He said discussions are ongoing. Pacheco also stated that he is expected to read in the plenary this week the PLP 68/2024, which regulates Tax Reform. The bill will be discussed in the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ), with Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) as rapporteur.
