The threat by the United States to impose a 25% tariff on Brazilian exports has become a major issue in the presidential campaign. The Lula administration is attempting to link the issue to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. Yesterday, Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP) stated that the constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) aimed at ending the six-days-on, one-day-off (6x1) work schedule will not proceed directly to the Senate floor. Instead, it must first be reviewed by the Senate Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ). President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will hold a cabinet meeting today, Wednesday (September 3), marking only the second such meeting of the year.
