The demonstration organized by right-wing groups on Sunday (March 1) in several state capitals, dubbed “Wake Up, Brazil,” drew lower turnout compared with rallies held when former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was not serving his sentence. The largest crowd was recorded on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo (SP). The constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) addressing public security may be voted upon on the Lower House floor on Wednesday night (March 4). On Friday (March 6), the party-switching window will open. This is the period during which sitting federal, state, and district deputies may change party affiliation ahead of the October elections without risking loss of their mandates.
