The South African Reserve Bank ends the year with a 25 bps interest rate cut

The South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) opted to lower the benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points from 7% to 6.75% during its final meeting of the year. This follows a pause in policy normalization during the MPC’s meeting in September. As a result, the prime lending rate also declined, from 10.5% to 10%.
