In this last weekly report before the summer recess, the politics author briefly discusses the “state of the nation”. In foreign relations, President Erdogan’s U-turn looks more permanent than his experimentation with quasi-orthodoxy in economic policy. In terms of Gulf funds, there is very visible progress, with more to come. With the EU, we at least know what the conditions are for better relations: Peace in Cyprus.
Erdogan has not achieved any success is convincing Putin to reopen the grain corridor, while pro-Greek (Democrat) Senator Menendez still objects to F-16 sales, but the politics author predicts Biden will soothe him.
