Yesterday, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) formed a majority in the adjudication of the Direct Act of Unconstitutionality (ADI) on civil liens. Eight ministers voted to allow the federal government to pay the stock of civil liens with extraordinary credit. Yesterday, President Lula confirmed the appointments of Flavio Dino to the STF and Paulo Gonet to the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR). Paulo Gonet's appointment to the PGR should not bring any surprises and should be approved easily. Flavio Dino's appointment will also likely be approved but with more resistance. Due to concerns about quorum, the Senate postponed the vote on the bill that deals with the taxation of offshore and exclusive funds from today to tomorrow.
