The Supreme Federal Court (STF) has suspended the ruling on Reintegra, a federal program aimed at returning part of the accumulated tax residues from the production of goods for export. Before the suspension, Justice Gilmar Mendes cast a vote to uphold the rule that allows the Executive Branch to alter the rate for determining Reintegra credits, ranging from 0.1% to 3%. On September 7, former President Jair Bolsonaro is set to lead a protest in São Paulo during the Independence Day celebrations. The events were called following the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo article that exposed the conversations between STF Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is presiding over the fake news trial, and officials from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Next week, the Lower House will undergo a week of concentrated voting efforts. The race for the House leadership will continue to stir political maneuvering behind the scenes in Brasília.
