The week appeared headed toward a major victory for the government with the Lower House’s approval of the proposal to eliminate Brazil’s 6x1 work schedule. However, that development was overshadowed by the U.S. government's decision to designate Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as terrorist organizations. President Lula will hold a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Under Brazil’s electoral legislation, the president may only participate in inauguration ceremonies until July 4. Because of the upcoming holiday, next week is expected to be relatively quiet on the legislative front.
