• Wang Qishan was recently appointed to the National People’s Congress. It is very rare for a nominally retired CCP high official to gain a seat in the NPC, so his appointment may be significant. There are rumors that he will soon be appointed the country’s Vice President, perhaps to take advantage of his good relationships and credibility in Washington.
• The Central Committee has proposed eliminating the two-term restriction for China’s President and Vice President. On the same day it proposed writing Xi Jinping’s theoretical works into the Chinese Constitution.
