This is the last week of legislative activity in Congress before the recess. Negotiations continue in the Federal Senate regarding compensatory measures for payroll tax relief for companies and municipalities. The rapporteur of the payroll tax relief bill, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), says there may be spending cuts. The president of the House, Deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL), announced that, by agreement among leaders, there will be three weeks of concentrated voting efforts in the House before the first round of the municipal elections (October 6). Sessions will be held between August 12-14, August 26-28, and September 9-11.
