Today marks the deadline for Congress to approve the extension of payroll tax relief for companies and small municipalities. The STF granted the government's request that the relief must identify sources to maintain it. The expectation is that the bill will be approved and sent for presidential sanction. The União Brasil and PSD parties reached an agreement to support each other’s candidates in the event of a runoff. União Brasil's candidate is Elmar Nascimento (BA), while PSD's candidate is party leader Antonio Brito (BA). This agreement came after Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) entered the race. Yesterday, government supporters and the opposition clashed during the Constitutional and Justice Committee's (CCJ) review of a bill granting pardons to those involved in the January 8 events. This was one of the topics addressed by former President Jair Bolsonaro in his September 7 speech.
