In the most politically charged case of recent years, a judge postponed the trial of CHP Istanbul Mayor Mr. Ekrem Imamoglu to mid-December. He is almost certain to be convicted and banned from holding elected office, but the timing depends on Erdogan. The Imamoglu trial marks yet another step towards a period of intense turbulence, which is to last until the 2023 elections.

On Monday, the main opposition alliance, Table of Six (ToS), will summit once again, where vows of cohesion and unity ought to be emphasized. Rumors of IYIP leader Aksener wanting to pull out of the alliance have little merit. Reps from the ToS parties claim a joint economic program can be unveiled after the summit or by end-November, though we remain skeptical. On the other hand, work by committees to produce a common economic policy are reported to be progressing without a hitch.
