Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian exports to the U.S. continues to fuel tensions between the government and the opposition, bringing the 2026 presidential race into early focus. President Lula said Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) is in the United States to influence Trump to interfere in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) case involving his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro. Finance Minister Fernando Haddad (PT) announced that the government has created a working group to evaluate the applicability of the Economic Reciprocity Law in response to the U.S. tariffs. Yesterday, Deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL), the rapporteur for the income tax bill, presented his report on the executive branch’s proposal.
