The whole world is waiting for Donald Trump's announcement on reciprocal tariffs. The day is being called the "Day of Liberation," with tariffs of 25% on all imported cars and "reciprocal" tariffs country by country—which could affect Brazilian products exported to the U.S. such as ethanol. Yesterday, April 1, the Senate Plenary approved a bill that provides for measures to respond to trade barriers imposed by other countries on Brazilian products. The bill, PL 2.088/2023, introduced by Senator Zequinha Marinho (Podemos-PA), was approved in the morning by the Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE) on a final basis. Today, Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM), rapporteur of PLP 108/2024, which creates the Management Committee, is expected to present his work plan in the Committee on Constitution and Justice.
